A mirror TV in the living room: how to plan and blend it in

A practical guide to blending a mirror TV into your living room: choosing the spot, size, frame and lighting so the screen disappears and the interior gains.

In most living rooms the television rules the wall. A black rectangle draws the eye even when no one is watching. A mirror TV reverses that: switched off it looks like a pane of mirror and becomes part of the decor, and switched on it shows a full 4K picture. Here is how to plan one so it looks natural and lifts the whole room.

Start with the wall and the viewpoint

First decide where you look at the TV wall from most often. A mirror reflects whatever sits opposite it, so it pays to plan what ends up in that reflection: a pleasing part of the room adds depth, while clutter or a harsh light source will distract. A well chosen spot makes a switched-off mirror TV work in the room’s favour all day long.

Size matched to the viewing distance

In a living room, comfortable viewing from the sofa matters. The greater the distance, the larger the diagonal you can use without feeling overwhelmed. We build every mirror TV to measure, so you are not limited to off-the-shelf sizes, and the screen can be planned to sit perfectly within the wall layout, the joinery or a mirrored panel.

Frame, finish and light

The frame and finish decide whether a mirror TV reads as a decorative element or as a piece of electronics. Ornate frames suit classic interiors, while frameless panes flush with the wall suit minimalist ones. Soft backlighting can lift the mirror away from the background. It is worth making these choices together at the design stage, before the joinery is built.

Think about cabling early

The cleanest result comes when cables and signal sources are hidden in the wall or the joinery. If you are planning a renovation or a new interior, that is the best moment to route power and signal to the right place. The wall is then left with the mirror alone, free of visible cables.

How our process works

We run every project from advice, through made-to-measure production, to installation and setup at the client location. We start with a conversation about the interior and your expectations, then choose the size, frame and finish, and finally install the finished solution. You can see examples in our projects, and the models in our product collection.
